Why would a Black man choose to befriend members of the Ku Klux Klan? My friend Daryl Davis, a member of the Builders movement, has spent decades answering that question through his actions. Instead of responding to hate with more hate, Daryl chose something much harder: curiosity. He listened, asked questions, and treated people with dignity, even when they didn’t extend the same to him. Over time, those conversations changed lives. Many former KKK members left the organization, with some even handing Daryl their robes as a symbol of the beliefs they were leaving behind. His story isn’t about accepting hatred. It’s about believing that people can change when they’re willing to be seen, heard, and challenged with humanity instead of contempt. Daryl reminds us that while not everyone will change, meaningful dialogue can sometimes accomplish what confrontation alone cannot. That’s what building bridges looks like. #BeABuilder
