For decades, I’ve believed that one of the strongest paths to peace is cooperation. More than 30 years ago, I started PeaceWorks to bring Israelis, Palestinians, Jordanians, Egyptians, and Turks together through business. The idea was simple: when people work together, they create opportunities, build trust, and see each other’s humanity. That’s why I’m concerned when I see efforts to discourage cooperation. I’ve met countless Israelis and Palestinians who want the same thing: the opportunity to build a better future for their families. Economic partnerships create jobs, strengthen communities, and give people a shared stake in one another’s success. When those relationships are cut off, it’s often ordinary people not political leaders ,who pay the highest price. Too often, people support movements without hearing from those directly affected.
