ā1. First, using a Gypsum powder paste and a bamboo stick, designs are traced on to the rough cut plates of tile.
2. Second, the tile is cut to shape using a sharp pick and steel bar which leads into the third step: shaping. 3. The tile is held at an angle on a ceramic bar and chipped away to allow the mix of plaster and cement to break the tile into shapes.
4. The cut tiles are placed together in a square of steel bars and the mix is poured locking in the design forever.
šš¼ The tile craftsmen were true masters of their craft and shared their time, jokes and skills with all of us.ā
