We wanted to share amazing news from Rhea W., one of our outstanding Harvard Chan C-CHANGE Youth Summit participants from last summer!
Rhea has had an amazing impact in her home country of Australia by using the knowledge and skills she gained at the summit. With a previous interest in medicine and healthcare, she learned how climate change has and will always have an impact on health. Once back in Australia, she wanted to continue to advocate for mental health with a newfound intersectional approach incorporating climate change. She identified that at a local scale, e-waste was an issue that both detrimentally impacted public health and contributed to climate change. As a young counselor, Rhea lobbied for new policies regarding e-waste disposal, and the federal government announced that it was dedicating 16.5 million AUD to incorporate her proposal into new climate change-aware policies!
