Tonight at the USATF LA Grand Prix, Lex Young of Newbury Park will attempt to break the high school national record in the 5000m of 13:37.30, which was just set earlier this month by sub-4:00 miler Connor Burns of Southern Boone County.
Currently, Lex Young holds the third fastest 5000m clocking in high school history, which took place last year in 2022 at the Sound Running Track Meet. Young only now trails Connor Burns (13:37.30) & Galen Rupp (13:37.91) in the famous 12 and a half lap distance.
There’s plenty of firepower as well in the professional field, with Abdihamid Nur, Addisu Yihune and Morgan Beadlescomb headlining the field.
Time to beat -> 13:37.30 👀
Does the Newbury Park phenom & future Stanford Cardinal break Connor Burns’ blistering 5000m high school record tonight ⁉️
