This is AMD Helios, and Microsoft just became the first hyperscaler to commit to running it at scale. The rack-scale AI platform packs AMD Instinct MI455X GPUs, 6th Gen EPYC Venice CPUs, Pensando networking, and the ROCm software stack into one open system built for AI training and inference. On Azure it takes aim squarely at NVIDIA’s rack-scale systems as a production alternative, not just a reference design. AMD expects Helios to start shipping in the second half of 2026.
