You can travel across West Africa and find different interpretations of what Olukumi means. I love how vast the history is. But it carries an even deeper weight when you look at how it survived. For this project, I wanted to channel all of that richness, pain, and triumph into the music, honoring everywhere it’s been, and what it deeply means to me today.
