Republican lawmakers sent a letter to the DOJ demanding the WNBA protect Caitlin Clark from Black players. Caitlin Clark herself had no idea the letter existed. The Indiana Fever confirmed neither the organization nor Clark had "any interaction with anyone in this congressional group" and was completely unaware of their letter. Meanwhile, Clark has publicly praised the pioneering Black women who built the WNBA and condemned racist attacks directed at Alyssa Thomas after a hard foul led to a one-game suspension. Kareem Abdul-Jabbar said what many were thinking. "Clark is white and Thomas is Black, and I guess that was enough for these intrepid lawmakers to decide the play might have been racially motivated," he wrote.
