Them: “What are you selling?” Me: A dream…. While setting up at the Juneteenth Night Market hosted by blaque_resource_network , a few people asked what we were selling. My answer: a dream of seeing more Black kids on tennis courts across New York City. Huge thank you to the BlaQue Resource Network for having us. This was our first night market, and we had no idea what to expect. There was a gaming tent right next to us, but these kids stayed on the tennis court all day. One had to step away bc he scratched himself and I told him to go find his mom. He said he’d be fright back and took the racket with him bc he didn’t want anybody to take his spot. And NOBODY wanted us to pack up when it was time to leave. I left a ball for them to keep playing w bc I felt so bad. 😩 Moments like this remind me that access matters. Give kids an opportunity to try something new, and they just might fall in love with it. If you’re looking to get your child into tennis, stay tuned. Kids programming and...
