“The sea was angry that day, my friends.” - George Costanza, Seinfeld
Water in national parks is beautiful, refreshing, and occasionally very committed to reminding humans that we are, in fact, not fish. What do you mean? Is anyone here a marine biologist?
These waters, whether in lakes, rivers, or the sea, don’t always play by the rules. Currents, sudden drop-offs, rocks, cold temperatures, and hidden hazards turn a relaxing swim into a story with more twists and complications than “an old man trying to return soup at a deli.”
Even excellent swimmers can find themselves in over their heads. Before you dive in: check conditions, swim in designated areas, wear a life jacket when needed, bring a buddy, and know your limits. Enjoy making a splash while keeping your adventure a Serenity Now! kind of experience!
