A crushing defeat! Just when Hillsboro Hops fans thought the jinx was broken, a ninth inning comeback fell one run short as the Hops dropped their 13th game in the month of July at the hands of the Vancouver Canadians at Hillsboro Hops Ballpark on July 21st. After Vancouver got on the board with a run in the top of the first inning, the Hops answered in the bottom half with two of their own with Slade Caldwell being brought home from second base on a Kayson Cunningham double and Cunningham scoring from a double by Jakey Josepha. In the third, Cunningham scored once again courtesy of a single by José Mejía. Vancouver lapped the Hops to take a 6-3 lead with a run in the fifth and three runs in the seventh. The Hops pulled one run back in the eighth after Carlos Virahonda tripled and was then brought home on a Wallace Clark double. The Canadians then piled on the runs with three in the top of the ninth.
