U.S. Park Police have two people in custody after conducting an operation in Montgomery County, Maryland, on Wednesday, and stopped searching for a third in an operation where U.S. Immigration and Customs officials were seen.⁠ ⁠ U.S. Park Police said its officers were conducting commercial vehicle enforcement on Clara Barton Parkway alongside federal law enforcement partners Wednesday morning. Law enforcement vehicles were at the Glen Echo turnaround, stopping vehicles that are not allowed to drive on the parkway.⁠ ⁠ Park Police said officers stopped a vehicle and three people ran. The vehicle was abandoned. The people disappeared into the woods that border the Potomac River.⁠ ⁠ Two people were taken into custody. Police haven't said if they face charges.⁠ ⁠ Montgomery County Fire Rescue was called because it was believed that some of the people who fled the stop may have entered the Potomac River.
