Humans see tigers as bright orange because we have three types of color detecting cone cells in our eyes. This trichromatic vision makes orange stand out sharply against green forests, making tigers look surprisingly conspicuous to us.
Deer and wild boars, however, are dichromats. They cannot distinguish red and green wavelengths like humans can, so a tiger's orange fur appears as muted greenish or brownish tones that blend into surrounding vegetation.
A tiger's coloration evolved for its prey's vision, not ours. Combined with its dark stripes that mimic shadows and tall grass, its orange coat provides excellent camouflage while hunting.
