Mattel is making AAA action figures. Mattel and WWE announced a multi-year global licensing agreement Thursday at their joint San Diego Comic-Con panel, expanding Mattel's WWE portfolio to include Lucha Libre AAA.
The line launches in Fall 2027 and will feature some of AAA's most recognizable talent, including Psycho Clown, El Hijo del Vikingo, La Parka, and Mr. Iguana. To commemorate the announcement, Mattel Creations will debut a made-to-order Mr. Iguana figure at San Diego Comic-Con, the first product in the AAA collection.
Nick Karamanos, Mattel's General Manager and Head of Entertainment Partnerships, said in the announcement, "Our partnership with WWE has been an incredible collaboration, and bringing AAA into the fold is the next exciting chapter." WWE Vice President of Revenue Abby Esrock said the deal will "expand WWE's collectibles portfolio and bring AAA's iconic stars into Mattel's industry-leading action figure line."
