After watching me hit, the coach at the mouratoglou_academy told me he liked my technique and swing path. His conclusion? The next thing that would have the biggest impact on my game wasn’t technique or placement….it was power. So we spent time building more pace into my swing, learning how to make the ball move faster and take time away from my opponent. The part I loved.. was what he kept repeating: “I don’t care if the ball goes out.” Such a simple statement thats so powerful to hear. As adult beginner tennis players, we’re often obsessed with keeping the ball in, even during a lesson. But his philosophy was simple: first build the ability to generate pace. Make it a natural part of your swing. Once that’s solid, then you can focus on controlling and placing the ball. Sometimes the next level isn’t about being safer.
