Friendly reminder that this free summer activity exists ✨
Free walk-up kayaking on the Hudson River is one of the best kept secrets of the city and thousands of New Yorkers take advantage every summer.
The Downtown Boathouse is offering free public sit-on-top kayak access along the west side of Manhattan. The entire volunteer-run program includes all equipment, life vests, changing areas, and basic paddling guidance without any cost. You can show up directly at the floating dock north of Pier 26 to get out on the water.
🕒 Weekend public sessions run Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM through October 4, with weeknight sessions available Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 PM to 7:15 PM through August 27.
💡 No Reservations: The program operates strictly on a first-come, first-served basis, meaning lines can close early during periods of high neighborhood demand.
Are you planning to drop by for a weekend paddle or a post-work sunset session? 👇
