He called his shot in March.
joshhkerr of the Seattle based brooksbeaststc said that he was taking a shot at the 27-year old world record in the mile of 3:43.13 held by Morocco's elguerroujhicham on July 18th at the londonathleticsmeet at London Stadium.
When it was all said and done, Kerr took it down to 3:42.66 to become the seventh British runner to hold the world record and the first since Steve Cram in 1985.
The first nine finishers all broke 3:50, including Seattle residents nathanrgreen (3:48.05 in fifth) and samprakel (3:49.63 in ninth), both of whom are still coached by uwtrack men's coach Andy Powell. Those marks were personal bests as well.
