McLaren Park, August 1st, 24 years of JerryDaySF. Every August 1st, San Francisco gathers in McLaren Park to remember Jerry Garcia, the Bay Area kid who helped change American music forever. Garcia grew up right here, and in 1965 he helped form a little band called the Grateful Dead, born out of the same Bay Area spirit that would soon put San Francisco on the map. Last year marked 60 years of the Dead, and next year SF celebrates another milestone: the 60th anniversary of the Summer of Love. Jerry Day sits right at the center of that legacy, a celebration of the era, the community, and the spirit that shaped this city. Now in its 24th year, Jerry Day brings that spirit to life with a full day of live music, community, and tribute, all set against the backdrop of McLaren Park.
