Most students spend the first month of the year “adjusting” You can walk in already dangerously prepared. Here’s what to do first 👇 1. AUDIT LAST YEAR NOT YOUR GOALS Everyone writes new goals. Almost nobody studies why last year broke. Open your old results and ask one question: did I lose marks because I didn’t know it or because I couldn’t retrieve it under pressure? Those are different problems with different fixes. Write the 3 moments things slipped. That’s your real syllabus. 2. PRE DECIDE YOUR METHOD (not your timetable) Timetables tell you WHEN. They never tell you WHAT to actually do in the chair, so you default to rereading. Decide now: active recall as the default, spaced review on a schedule, past papers as the test. Students who practise retrieval remember far more a week later than students who reread four times (Roediger & Karpicke). 3. REBUILD YOUR ATTENTION BEFORE IT’S NEEDED Your focus isn’t broken.
