The officers found the man again around 1:35 p.m. near the intersection of South Baldwin Street and Williamson Street on the city's east side.
Video posted to social media of the shooting showed what appeared to be four police officers in a physical struggle with a suspect in the intersection. A police car with lights activated pulled up next to the group, and seconds later, three shots can be heard ringing out.
During the struggle, the man pulled out a knife and injured an officer, authorities said. The officers continued to try to take him into custody, including using a Taser, but were unsuccessful.
