Border Patrol released the footage this week from a traffic stop in Yuma where temperatures were pushing toward 110 degrees. When agents opened the trunk, a man was inside. According to agents, he had no water, no ventilation and no way to get himself out. The driver has been identified as a U.S. citizen and is charged with human smuggling. The man found in the trunk received immediate medical attention, was taken into custody, and will be processed for deportation. And here is the part that makes this one land. A public information officer with the Yuma Fire Department says a closed trunk in the desert summer can reach roughly 150 degrees, and that a person inside can be in a heat emergency within a couple of minutes of the lid coming down.
