Arizona’s giant beetles are coming back out.
Recent monsoon storms are bringing Palo Verde beetles up from underground, and people across the state are already spotting them near homes, sidewalks and parking lots.
They can grow up to four inches long. Despite their size, they cannot sting and are mostly harmless—although they can deliver a painful pinch if handled.
Several videos have even shown Arizona cats coming face-to-face with the giant bugs.
Have you spotted one near your house yet?
