Arizona’s race for governor is set. Andy Biggs won the Republican primary Tuesday and will face Governor Katie Hobbs in November. Biggs beat fellow Congressman David Schweikert along with businessmen Scott Neely and Ken Miceli. He carried Trump’s endorsement and held a steady lead in polling going in. Karrin Taylor Robson, who Trump had also endorsed, dropped out back in February. He has represented the southeast Valley in Congress for five terms and chaired the House Freedom Caucus from 2019 to 2021. Before Washington he served in the state Legislature and was president of the Arizona Senate. There is a second thing worth knowing. Biggs and Schweikert both gave up their House seats to run for governor, so Arizona now has two open congressional races sitting on the same ballot. Hobbs won in 2022 by roughly 17,000 votes out of more than two million cast.
