Less than a year old and already the best in the country. Pinyon Coastal Mediterranean in Old Town Scottsdale was named the No. 1 Mediterranean restaurant in the US on Yelp Elites’ list of the top 25 spots “worth the epic journey,” released last month. It’s the only Arizona restaurant that made the cut. Pinyon opened in October along Scottsdale Civic Center Park from Hi Noon Hospitality, the same team behind Buck & Rider and Ingo’s Tasty Food. The menu was inspired by a six-week trip through the Mediterranean, and reviewers singled out the house-made pita, artichoke hummus, yellowtail crudo and baklava cheesecake. Arizona is on a roll with these lists. A Phoenix smokehouse was just named the best barbecue restaurant in the country by the same group.
