A Kingman mom of twins nearly passed away after taking a kratom supplement she picked up at a gas station, her family says. Amanda Goodsell, 27, had never used kratom before. She was dealing with persistent leg pain and her husband Mike suggested she try the gummies. He figured something anyone can grab off a gas station counter was not going to hurt her. About a week into taking it, he woke up and found her unresponsive with her lips blue. She was rushed to the hospital and put on life support with her heart pumping at 15%. Doctors said she was in heart failure and would need a transplant. After roughly two weeks her heart recovered enough that the transplant was called off, and she is now back home. Doctors say she will need a defibrillator and heart medication for the rest of her life. Kratom is legal in Arizona and regulated under the state’s Kratom Consumer Protection Act.
