An El Mirage man is in custody after police say he admitted to taking his father’s life during a fight and hiding his remains beneath plywood inside a concrete vehicle-repair pit. The investigation began after a man approached an Arizona state trooper at a Youngtown QuikTrip and reported what he had seen. According to court documents, Michael Rodriguez, 48, had allegedly invited the man to take whatever he wanted from his father’s home and later asked him to retrieve a wallet connected to a bank card containing $5,000. Police found Salvador Ortiz Rivera Jr.’s remains at the El Mirage home Wednesday. Rodriguez allegedly told investigators he “lost it” during an argument, blacked out and tried to conceal what happened afterward. Rodriguez was booked into jail on multiple felony charges. The allegations against him have not been proven in court. Send us your stories to be featured on the page. #ElMirage #ArizonaNews #WestValley #ArizonaCrime #Arizona
