Saturday is forecast to hit 116. That’s the hottest Phoenix has been all year, and it’s the middle of a five-day stretch. The Extreme Heat Warning takes effect in the Valley at 10 a.m. Thursday and stays up through Monday. All five days are First Alert Weather Days. Highs run near 111 Thursday, 115 Friday, 116 Saturday, 112 Sunday and 108 Monday. Until now the hottest Phoenix had gotten this summer was 113. The part people underestimate is the mornings. Lows only drop into the low to mid 90s, so there’s no real overnight recovery for five days straight. Storm chances are basically nothing Thursday and Friday before returning Sunday through Tuesday at around 20 percent in the Valley. The warning covers much of western, central and southeast Arizona too, and lower elevations of the Grand Canyon go under one Friday through Sunday with temps near the Colorado River reaching 112 to 114.
