Regena Felix went into labor with her fifth child on July 13 and she and her husband Frankie drove about 30 miles from their home in Casa Grande to Mercy Gilbert Medical Center. After a few hours, she says she was sent home to continue laboring. She told 12News she pushed back at the time because they didn’t live anywhere near the hospital. Labor advanced fast on the drive and there was no time to turn around. They pulled into a casino parking lot and their daughter Noa was born in the passenger seat of their brand new car in the middle of a monsoon storm. The cord was wrapped around her neck. Frankie unwrapped it and delivered her before they drove back to the hospital. When he called ahead, staff told them “I hope this isn’t the patient we just sent home.” It was.
