Being an influencer is now a legit college major, and it’s happening right here in Arizona. ASU’s Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication is offering a new content creation degree designed to teach students how to build an audience, brand themselves, and turn social media skills into an actual career. According to senior associate dean Jessica Pucci, the program goes way past making videos. Students learn to measure how their content performs across platforms and develop strategies to test and improve it, with faculty focused entirely on helping them grow as creators. The final project is the part everyone will talk about. Students pick a platform of their choice, like TikTok, build a growth strategy, and have to show real audience growth with real followers by the end of the semester.
