Migrant apprehensions along Arizona’s southern border have dropped dramatically in just one year. New federal data shows the Tucson and Yuma border sectors recorded more than 564,000 apprehensions in fiscal year 2024, compared with approximately 65,800 in 2025—an 88% decrease. The decline follows stricter U.S. enforcement, increased action by Mexican authorities and shifting migration routes. Early fiscal year 2026 numbers are reportedly tracking even lower.
