The greatriversstl Brickline Greenway is making that vision a reality Along the way, it also creates space to remember. Once a thriving Mecca of Black life in St. Louis, Mill Creek Valley was home to thousands of residents, Black-owned businesses, churches, schools, newspapers and cultural institutions before the neighborhood was demolished during urban renewal in the 1950s. Today, the Brickline Greenway looks to the past and the future, honoring the stories that shaped St. Louis while connecting four anchor parks and 14 neighborhoods, creating new opportunities for reflection, connection and community for generations to come. #WashU #stl #stlouis
