🔎 Today’s Daily Sift: Space Space is moving beneath the surface. NASA’s Juno mission has measured the temperature below Io’s volcanic crust for the first time. The spacecraft found temperatures rising by more than 40 degrees Fahrenheit only several feet beneath the surface. Sunlight cannot explain it. The heat is coming from inside. Jupiter’s gravity constantly stretches and compresses Io, turning the moon into the most volcanically active world in the solar system. Juno is now revealing how that tidal energy moves toward the surface. The findings could also help scientists understand how similar forces keep hidden oceans warm beneath moons such as Europa and Ganymede. Then comes today’s industrial test. SpaceX is preparing Starship Flight 13 with 20 test Starlink V3 satellites. The mission will test deployment, engine relight, reentry, and controlled descent.
