40 hours in Lourdes. Which isn’t long by any stretch, but some places don’t ask for your time, they ask for your attention. There’s a stillness here that has nothing to do with how long you stay, and everything to do with how many people have stood in the same spot, desiring time of solitude. Time spent in prayer with Our Lady, time given to penance and community. It really exhibits how a place can hold meaning to so many before you even arrive, completely independent of who we are. We just pass through it briefly, surrounded by others, drawn to the same peaceful, prayerful place.
