🦵 One thing to keep in mind is that the gentleman in this video wasn’t doing any cutting, pivoting, or twisting activities—which is where the ACL becomes especially important for knee stability. Running in a straight line or performing controlled exercises places much less demand on the ACL.

💪 Anyway, when it comes to rehab after ACL tears, it estimated that around 1/3 of individuals are what we call “copers.” Through dedicated physical therapy and strengthening of the quadriceps and hamstrings, they can create enough dynamic stability around the knee to function surprisingly well without surgery. Some also choose to wear an ACL brace for additional support.
