Today we celebrate the 106th birthday of the United States Navy Reserve. Forming in March 3, 1915, it was then known as the Federal Naval Reserve until the Reserve was reorganized and re-christened the United States Naval Reserve Force in 1916. Today’s Navy Reserve force is said to be just under 50,000 strong, making up approximately 20% of the total assets of the United States Navy.
