IRS certified mail is mail that the IRS sends you via certified mail — and you ignore it at your own peril! While the IRS may send standard reminder and collections notices via non-certified mail, it is required by law to send the most important (and sometimes most aggressive) notices and letters via certified mail. Very often, these certified letters have a specific deadline by which you must respond to the IRS and if you don’t, the IRS may started forced collections activity against you such as wage garnishments and bank levies! Bottom line: Do not ignore certified mail from the IRS — open it, read it carefully, take note of any stated deadlines, and take action to protect yourself (or hire someone to protect you)! #irsnotice #irsletter #irs #internalrevenueservice #taxdebt
