Last week, I had the privilege of attending Sam’s “YES I CAN” show in Southport, and it was one of the most inspiring evenings I’ve experienced. Hearing Sam speak so openly about surviving the civil war in Sierra Leone, overcoming unimaginable adversity and using tennis to change the course of his life was incredibly powerful. But what inspired me most wasn’t just where he’s come from, it was what he’s chosen to do with his experiences. Through the Sam’s Foundation, he’s spent years creating opportunities for underprivileged children through sport and education, supporting communities in Africa with coaching, equipment, camps and mentorship. Seeing someone use their own journey to create opportunities for others really resonated with me and aligns so closely with my goals. The evening left me with a renewed sense of purpose.
