Yesterday I had the pleasure of speaking on a really powerful panel at Wimbledon, led by Anne-Marie Batson: all about legacy, visibility, and equity in tennis. The conversation was shaped around the impact of Arthur Ashe and what his legacy still means for the Black community in sport today. For me, it was a special moment, to be in that space, talking openly about representation, access and the work that still needs to be done to make tennis truly inclusive. We touched on everything from the power of visibility, to creating real pathways for Black players and coaches, as well as the importance of listening to people with lived experiences if we want long-term change. I also got to share the work we’re doing at Black Tennis Mentors UK CIC, and how we work tirelessly from grassroots level to grow the game and create a space for the next generation of tennis enthusiasts.
