The recent Cyclospora outbreak is a good reminder that every tomato, cucumber, or head of lettuce you grow yourself is one less thing you have to rely on someone else to provide. No, growing a garden doesn’t make you 100% self-sufficient. I still buy groceries, and most gardeners do too. But every skill you learn and every pound of food you harvest makes you a little less dependent on the food system and gives you a little more peace of mind. That freedom is why I garden. If you’ve ever wanted to grow your own food but didn’t know where to start, follow along. My goal is to show that anyone can grow at least some of what they eat. Whether it’s in a pot or an acre of land. 🍅 #farm #food #garden #homestead #shilohfarm
