14 years ago today, Fifth Harmony was formed on X factor
Ally Brooke, Camila Cabello, Normani Kordei, Dinah Jane, and Lauren Jauregui were brought together at The Fillmore in Miami to form Fifth Harmony during the second season of The X Factor USA. All five had originally auditioned as solo contestants, but none progressed individually into their respective solo categories — Cabello, Normani, Dinah Jane, and Jauregui fell short in "Teens," while Brooke didn't advance in "Young Adults." Rather than sending them home, judges Simon Cowell and guest mentor Demi Lovato made the call to combine them into a group, qualifying them for the 'Groups' category instead. Initially dubbed "LYLAS" (Love You Like A Sister), the group performed Shontelle's 'Impossible' as their first song together, a moment Cowell later cited as the reason he fell for the concept.
