Before beginning his tenure as Georgetown University’s 49th president, Eduardo M. Peñalver stepped away from the demands of daily life for an eight-day silent Ignatian retreat in Gloucester, Massachusetts. Through prayer, reflection and discernment, Peñalver considered the responsibility of leading Georgetown and how the university’s Catholic and Jesuit tradition can guide its next chapter. In this short documentary, he visits Georgetown's Calcagnini Contemplative Center to reflect on that experience alongside Jesuit leaders who explore how silence, spiritual practice and contemplation in action can shape purposeful leadership.
