Back-to-back plays Sam Hartman and Audric Estime saved Notre Dame’s 2023 season… for about a week. 🤯
The Irish entered the season as the No. 13 team in college football, cruising through their first four games by a combined margin of 184-47. As a result of their early domination, the team climbed their way to No. 9 in the AP Poll.
This set up a massive matchup between No 9 Notre Dame and No. 6 Ohio State during week four in South Bend. After falling behind 10-0 at the hands of the Buckeyes, Notre Dame stormed back to take their first leas of the game in the fourth quarter. However, an Ohio State touchdown in the final seconds ultimately won the game for the Buckeyes.
Just a week later, Notre Dame appeared to be hungover (or looking ahead to another top-10 matchup) when they traveled to take on No. 17 Duke. Unlike the Ohio State game, it was the Irish who held a 13-0 lead over the Blue Devils, who then claimed a one-point lead in the final minutes of the game.
