Smoke blanketed Spain's Sierra de Espadán as wildfires tore through the region on Saturday, killing at least one person. In Castellón province, a fire grew beyond what local crews could contain, forcing roughly 15,000 evacuations as flames spread across a 21km perimeter. Firefighters said the blaze had outgrown the capabilities of any fire service. Spain has declared its first-ever national emergency over wildfires, with three fires near Madrid, prompting an EU response. Four aircraft from Italy and Greece were due to join planes already sent from the Netherlands and Portugal. #Spain #Wildfires #Castellon #ClimateCrisis #Emergency #Europe #Firefighters
