Continuing on with our 2026-27 NHL Standing Projections, we've got the Vancouver Canucks at #31. I know this is most people's pick to be last, and obviously they're BAD, but for me, the main thing that put them just slightly ahead of Calgary was their centre "depth" I'd argue that Vancouver's 2C is better than Calgary's 1C. Chytil is good too if he can stay healthy (he won't). This centre depth isn't great but it's not bad either. Probably just mid which is better than Calgary's. This rest of this team is putrid though. Apart from DeBrusk & Boeser, there's not a single winger on this squad that you can rely on as a surefire 20 goals. Defensively, really bad. Hronek is a stable blueline presence and the addition of Oleksiak should help, but Buium is still defensively incapable of being a top-pairing guy despite his offensive prowess.
