One unclear word at work can lead to the wrong deadline, the wrong task or an unexpected cost. Here are a few natural examples: 🔵 The deadline in the email was ambiguous, so we weren’t sure when the work was due. 🔵 The instructions were ambiguous, and two people completed the same task. 🔵 The phrase “final version” was ambiguous. I thought it meant the internal draft, but my colleague sent it to the client. 🔵 The agreement was ambiguous about who would pay the additional costs. This is useful workplace English when you need to explain why people understood the same message differently. It can also help you raise the problem calmly in a meeting and ask for a clearer decision.
