Ghost wolves, or "fancy coyotes," as some researchers dub them, are a type of coyote that harbors DNA remnants of the critically endangered red wolf species, which were once thought to be extinct. Mid-July two Ghost wolves were spotted playing along the Galveston shoreline. They can be found living in the Gulf Coast regions of Texas and Louisiana.
