On July 27, 1953, the Korean Armistice Agreement was signed, ending the active fighting of the Korean War. From 1950 to 1953, American Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines endured harsh conditions and fierce combat in defense of freedom and democracy. Their courage and sacrifice helped build the enduring alliance between the United States and South Korea. Today, we honor those who served, remember those who never returned, and recognize the families who carried their legacy forward.
