Today at 12:55pm the people of Nepal shared a moment of collective silence in memory of the 8,617 people who died, 16,808 injured, and 2.8 million who were displaced by last years earthquake. We spent the morning working on the school in Bhachek -6 miles from the earthquake epicenter- and things are coming along slowly but surely. We are limited by lack of resources, sporadic electricity, and severely limited water. I brought these Wind Horse prayer flags from Pokhara. We held them together in ceremony and then tied them at the top of the lone tree outside our army tent. If you want to help, please come visit this country and and understand why I love it so much. The economy here depends on tourism and many local people work as trekking guides, in restaurants or other tourist related industries, and unemployment is high.
