Here are 3 reasons you need to train your footwork
1. Better footwork equals getting in the right position for your swing more often. When you miss a shot, it’s usually not your swing that’s the problem, it was your footwork. Were you in the correct position? Balanced? Did you let the ball drop too much? Was the ball too high?
2. Better footwork will allow you to get to many more balls, making you a much more consistent player. Tennis is a game of errors, the more balls you can put in the court, the more likely it is your opponent will make a mistake. Don’t rush into hitting winners. Use your legs, make the opponent hit a bunch of shots, get the error. (Aka djokovic/Nadal)
3. Training your footwork will improve your tennis stamina and efficiency. No more going into the third set feeling like you have 0 energy. Going for runs and being in great shape won’t develop your tennis specific fitness. You need to train the footwork patterns that you will be using when you play tennis.
