I’m Memphis is preparing to invest the first wave of revenue generated by its groundbreaking, Community Benefit Ordinance.
Mayor Paul Young has unveiled a proposal for $3.28 million in FY2026 funding collected through the city’s property tax on data centers. The ordinance is expected to generate $100 million, with 25% dedicated to neighborhoods within a five-mile radius of data centers for infrastructure improvements, economic development, livability projects, and nonprofit grants.
As data centers continue to expand nationwide, Memphis’ approach could become a model for communities across the country.
